At that time, gently hold his muzzle closed and teach them to learn about your expressions or gestures. You can show the sign of “Shhh” or “Stop” anything you want. You may think that it is not possible to control all stimuli, which may scare the dog or provoke them to bark. You can try avoiding some by closing the curtains, making your dog’s room soundproof, or put your dog in a different place where you can keep them calm and distracted. If your Shih Tzu is scared by firecrackers or some other noises like that, then stay with them until they feel okay and safe.

• Sometimes, your favorite Shih Tzu doesn’t stop barking until and unless he gets what he wants. You have to stay firm and stable in front of him. Don’t pamper him with his unnecessary demands. 
• You can also use a spray bottle to distract your dog from barking. This way, your Shih Tzu may stay quiet for a longer period. But always remember that nothing is best compared to proper training. Be consistent and make him realize that he has to follow your instructions.
